Types of equipment
One of the main terms of
is the term type of equipment. A type of equipment is a ‘subcategory’ of a category. The type of equipment is a starting point for the producer obligations. Therefore, for example, registration must be applied for for each type of equipment (and brand).Corresponding to where the equipment is used, electrical and electronic equipment can be categorised as b2c (business to consumer) or b2b (business to business) equipment. Therefore there is at least one b2c and one b2b type of equipment in every category.
b2c equipment is electrical and electronic equipment that can be used in private households. These generally are places of private lifestyle, especially apartments and their respective plots or building parts.
b2b equipment is such electrical and electronic equipment that can exclusively be used in other than private households (actual utilisation), or that usually are not used in private households (intended utilisation). You show prima facie of this pursuant to the registration application.
dual-use equipment is such electrical and electronic equipment that can be used both in private households, as well as commercially. In principle, dual-use equipment is categorised as b2c equipment.
Depending on whether it is b2c or b2b equipment, the producer obligations differ.
Decisive for the b2b character of electrical or electronic equipment is not the distribution channel (for example only sold to commercial intermediaries), but the location of possible use. Thus b2b equipment is practically exclusively commercially utilised electrical and electronic equipment, which for example
- due to their purpose,
- due to special requirements for utilisation (necessary operation permits or special environment),
- due to their size
- or due to other technical features
it is impossible or at least improbable to use it in private areas.
Below you will find an overview of the 6 categories and the total of 17 types of equipment with an allocation of the b2c types of equipment to groups (relevant for pick-up of b2c electrical and electronic waste equipment at the public waste disposal authorities’ handover facilities).
