As a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment you play an important part in the electrical and electronic equipment Law (ElektroG). Your responsibilities cover not only the sale of products, but also compliance with specific regulations and obligations in connection with the take-back and disposal of this equipment. In this section you can find out more about what you have to take note of to fulfill your legal obligations as a distributor.
Your obligations as a distributor
Do you have a ‘Mein Unternehmenskonto’? In this case it is not necessary to create a separate account in the ear-Portal. You can register directly in the ear-Portal using your “Mein Unternehmenskonto”.
Information on “Mein Unternehmenskonto”
If you do not yet have a ‘Mein Unternehmenskonto’, nor a user account for the ear-Portal, you must first set up your own user account in the ear-Portal:
Account anlegen
- To set up a user account in the ear-Portal you need to type in your company data.
- Type in the details of your main contact who is to act as administrator in the ear-Portal.
- Set a password.
- Fill in the marked boxes and check all the summarised data, confirm by ticking the box and complete the user account setup.
- A confirmation email will be sent to the main contact’s registered email address.
- Confirm your email address within seven days.
- After successful confirmation you will receive your user-ID (Benutzer-ID).
In our ear-Portal you will find all the required information and steps on how to deal with this procedure easily and successfully.
Regardless whether you are now no longer obligated to register or have set up the distributor account incorrectly, you can block it simply via the ear-Portal.
Obligations as a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment
Information obligation
From the time you offer electrical and electronic equipment you are obligated to inform customers through clearly visible and legible written or image data how they can dispose of their electrical and electronic waste. This covers especially the following information:
- Disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment separate from normal household waste. Batteries and Lamps have to be taken out bevor and be desposed of seperately.
- Option to return free-of-charge to the distributor.
- End user’s responsibility to delete personal data on the waste equipment to be disposed of.
- Meaning of the symbol of the crossed out wheeled bin.

Collection site logo
